The Church of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Balmaseda has become a new leisure spot for lovers of film, theater and art.
The church is in the Neo-Gothic style with orientalizing features, its dome being particularly noteworthy.
After several years of architectural restoration, the City Council has named this former convent Klaret Antzokia. This name derives from the Klaret Fathers, the religious order that inhabited this seminary.
Inaugurated on March 3, 2005, this building located in Plaza de San Juan, together with the Kultur Etxea, forms a place of culture in general.
The new cinema-theater is spread over two floors. The ground floor houses the stage with a capacity of 300 seats, the auditorium, and the projection, sound, and translation booths, while the first floor features a choir loft with tiered seating for spectators.
